Detailed itinerary 5 Days Bwindi Gorillas and Wildlife safari

 

Day 1: Pick up and transfer to Queen Elizabeth national park.

Depending on where you are on the first day of your five-day Bwindi Gorillas and Wildlife safari, our driver guide will meet you at Entebbe Airport and give you a brief introduction to the trip. You will then begin the approximately six- to seven-hour drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park with a stop for lunch along the way in Mbarara. After entering the park, you can choose to have a game drive in the evening, during which you can see a variety of species, including elephants, buffalo, Uganda kobs, and waterbucks. You will drive to your choice lodge for dinner and overnight after the wildlife drive.

Day 2: Morning game drive/ optional lion tracking experience and afternoon boat cruise.

 

After an early breakfast on the second day of the 5 days Bwindi gorillas and wildlife safari you will meet up with your driver guide to go for a morning game drive in the Kasenyi plains where you will be able to see various animal species such as elephants, Uganda kobs, waterbucks, buffaloes, bushbucks, warthogs, predators like lions, leopards, hyenas if you are lucky you will watch different bird species. You will go to the lodge for lunch after the game drive.

Queen Elizabeth National Park

You will meet your driving guide after lunch to embark on an exciting boat tour on the waterway that connects Lake George with Lake Edward, the Kazinga channel. You can see amazing wildlife during the two-hour boat ride, including many schools of hippos, Nile crocodiles in the water, elephants, buffalo, waterbucks drinking along the banks of the river, and many different waterbird species, including the martial eagle, papyrus gonolek, pelicans, African skimmers, cormorants, African spoonbills, fish eagles, king fishers, and many more. You will return to the lodge for an evening of relaxation, dinner, and overnight lodging following the boat ride.

Day 3: Transfer to Bwindi impenetrable national park.

 

On the third day of your 5-day Uganda gorilla and wildlife safari begins with an early breakfast. You then check out of the lodge and meet your driver/guide to make the trip to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, passing through the Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park. Ishasha region is reachable after a two-hour journey, and once there, you’ll go on an exhilarating game drive where, if you’re lucky, you’ll have the chance to see tree-climbing lions lounging in the branches of fig and acacia trees. After the game drive, you’ll eat lunch before continuing on to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, where you’ll check into your choice lodge for dinner and the night.

Day 4: Gorilla trekking in Bwindi impenetrable national park.

On the fourth day of your five-day Bwindi gorilla and wildlife safari, you will have an early breakfast, bring a packed lunch from the lodge, and meet your driver guide to travel to the park headquarters for a briefing on the guidelines and expectations for gorilla trekking. After the briefing, you will begin a 30- to 7-hour jungle trip through a dense forest where you can see additional primates including L’Hoest’s monkeys, baboons, bird species, and plant species, among others. When the mountain gorillas are located, you will be given the opportunity to spend an hour with them in their natural environment, giving you the chance to learn more about their way of life, habits, and behaviors as well as to snap pictures and document the experience.

You’ll make the hour-long trek back to the park headquarters where you’ll receive a certificate for taking part in the gorilla trek. Then, you’ll meet up with your driver guide to go on an optional cultural tour where you can meet the Batwa people, learn about their culture and way of life, and take in some of their traditional performances, among other things. You will return to the lodge for an evening of relaxation, dinner, and overnight lodging following the cultural tour.

Day 5: Departure to Kampala.

 

You will have breakfast in the morning on the last day of your five-day Bwindi gorilla and wildlife safari, check out of the lodge and meet your driver guide to take you to Kampala. You will pass via the towns of Kabale, Ntungamo, and Mbarara on the way, where you will stop for lunch. You will continue travelling after lunch with another stop near the Equator where you may snap pictures and even shop for souvenirs. There are several craft stores where you may get items like artwork and crafts.  You will continue your journey from the Equator to Kampala, where your driver-guide will drop you off at Entebbe International Airport in time for your next departure or at a location of your choosing.
